The only applications that might use this are military applications. Which are most likely classified applications. But in short, no, a normal application wouldn't use it. ;)

    I would.

I almost did, but he drives a local water taxi and I don't want him talking **** about me or my company. Annapolis may be the capital of Md., but it is a small town. Word travels fast.

This does look like iOS4 is turning into Apple's Vista. .

The biggest difference... Apple will fix the problems. MS just let it go.

BTW... I've noticed lots of little things too... the most annoying being the proximity sensor issues. But I have confidence they will get fixed. I'm just hoping soon. :) But heck... it's only been just over a month since it shipped. :D

i still need more concrete clarification on whether to trademark or copyright the logo for my company...

No need to bother. You possess moral rights immediately upon its final form:

    When is my work protected?

Your work is under copyright protection the moment it is created and fixed in a tangible form that it is perceptible either directly or with the aid of a machine or device.

Besides, to be frank, it's quite probable that your design will infringe on the copyright of others.

i don't think the rogers video stores will have the phones. if i go, i will probably be going to the rogers store at 2599 pembina highway, since it's fairly close to my place. i don't think i'll be getting the phone since i am only 14 and have about $20 right now, but i'm gonna see if i can line up for the free breakfast! :D

EDIT: woops. the store i was going to go to is not participating in the launch, according to rogers.com. so i'll be going to the one at 1225 St Mary's Road if i end up going.

Apple rodents were better in those days :( Although I'm pretty certain I've used generic PC mice ever since I first had a Mac with a USB port. I never did fit into the single mouse button mindset.

Even if the ball did need cleaning in the hockey puck, at least you could do so easily. Most of the Mighty Mice I meet won't scroll up any more, and I never could get used to having to lift my left finger off the mouse to right click. My dad got fed up and disassembled his to clean it out properly the other day, but I'm sure it'll stop working again within a few weeks. :(

Instead of holding option, hold the mouse button down while you power on. That force ejects any disk.

This was a rent a cop and not an Apple employee, right?

Nearly without fail, everyone who tries to enforce a photography ban is some form of rent-a-cop (or the DC Park Police, if you're downtown). In fact, he was wearing the usual RTC parking monitor garb, so yes. Paul Blart, self-appointed Apple Event Press Liaison :D

In addition to the formidable rent-a-cop contingent, there was also on hand an imposing display of armed Fairfax County (actual) Sheriffs and Reston's Finest.

I have a Rev. A and I just love it. No problems at all, no noisy fans, in fact, the machine is so quiet it's scary. Go for it!

    Quick Poll.

Which do you prefer phpbb or vbulletin?

I would like your input. I am starting a forum for a client and it will probably not have very heavy traffic, but he wants it to be SEO. I know vbulletin is more SEO than phpbb. I could mod phpbb to be more search engine friendly but modding phpbb makes upgrading harder.

Is it worth it to just start with vBulletin?

I really prefer vBulletin. To me it has a much more "polished" look to it as a final release.

    Hi,
I have an ftp upload problem. Ive had it ever since I bought my first mac, a powerbook, a year ago. I first trying using several free ftp programs (+ Transmit), but everytime i would upload a file to a folder it would just freeze immediately. so i went and bought Cute FTP Mac cause the demo rid this problem, but not entirely. It freezes immediately, but when I close connection and connect again, everything works. So now i have gotten into the habit of 'uploading, it freezing, me closing and re-opening the connection', and then it working. This is a really long and annoying way to go about things. Anybody have a clue as to what is going on?

I was assured by the Verizon rep who activated my phone and added the data, that if I were to upgrade to another 3G smartphone down the line that my unlimited data would be grandfathered, now when it comes to 4G LTE, no I don't get unlimited of that. The only part of my plan they weren't sure would get grandfathered if I upgraded is the 5GB tethering/hotspot allowance.

"For example, a customer purchases an iPhone 4 or a Droid X along with the $29.99 data plan," the representative explained. "This person's contract expires February 10, 2013, but they love their device so much they never come in and purchase another device. They continue to pay us monthly and we continue to bill them for the exact same services. We don't change their plan. Now let's say in 2014, they want a new phone and they come in and purchase a new phone, then they subscribe to whatever service is offered at that time and pay that price."

Now he could be talking about 4g, or 3g. Hopefully 4g

    Does it have the paperwork?

Would you be willing to outright sell the Touch for enough to cover the $199 subsidized iPhone? (assuming you are eligible *ducks*)

You can speculate about the superdrive, but don't even think the longshoremen are being even remotely reasonable! My cousin in NY is one and I agree with him when he says they are the living example of a way-too powerful union out of control. They push and bully till they get what they want. He makes $190,000 to operate a crane. That is INSANE. That same job in any other construction venue earns nowhere near as much AND there is usually very little job securtiy. The management agreed to every term of the settlement EXCEPT the singular outrageous demand that their jobs be guaranteed to never become obsolete for technology reasons. That is the craziest pie-in-the-sky demand I'v ever heard! What does that even mean?! It boils down to all these current employees having the overweening arrogance to try to ensure these nepotistic jobs for their children. They are the blue collar equivalent of major league baseball players. They're greedy and shameless instead of grateful for essentially winning the lottery, and that mentatlity will create their own downfall.

Plus they're holding up Apple's progress and I NEED A NEW SYSTEM!

A good friend of mine really wants an iPod mini, and I thought it would be nice to get her one for Christmas. Problem is that you can't get them anywhere anymore. Apple had some for a while on the refurb section of their website, but they are all gone now and the only place I have seen them is on Ebay for like $250+! I don't really want to pay that much, so I thought I would see if there was anyone here who has one is good condition that they might feel like selling? Any color is fine, although she would prefer green. Also, if anyone knows of a place where one can still buy new/refurbished iPod minis, I would be interested in hearing about that too.
    Thanks!

I don't understand why Apple doesn't produce a wireless version of the number pad keyboard.

How dependable will your Mac be in 10 years? I'd say it's pretty much irrelevant. Do you really think you'll be using the same computer in 10 years?

I converted to a Mac for the first time last year at this time. I researched a bunch of stuff online and watched a number of videos to see the differences between Mac's and PC's. Once I got the Mac, I got the hang of it pretty quickly.

In terms of security, I don't use any security software and I haven't noticed any problems.

For file organization, I'd say it's very easy to keep files organized.
