But do you think after 5 years of use it be more 15 GB the logs?
Well, to put that into perspective, the last time I purged my log files, they all together added up to about 3GB...and that was after about 6 months...

I've recently installed a 2.33ghz c2d chip in my old 1.66 cd mac mini. The performance boost has been great!
I've noticed temps have gotten a little high while running encodes and such... around low - mid 90s C while handbrake is encoding. I know this is still within operating temperature, but i'd like them to be a little lower.
I managed to keep the plastic clips from breaking while installing my cpu. I've been thinking about replacing the nylon clips with some nylon screws, like others have mentioned.
My question, Do people use the springs that came with the clips when installing the screws? Or do people just screw the heatsink down snug to the cpu without the springs?

Maybe I'm getting old, but there doesn't seem to be any right now. :( All of the games I find interesting are being funneled/gimped to the 360, or the promising ones have been blah in general. The only game that my PC buddies got into, which I didn't for obvious reasons, was WoW, which of course is cross platform. Now that's all some of them play. :confused:

awww..=\ yea i can see the drive in osx. do you know what happened to make my bootcamp error? cause it was working just fine for a couple months and suddenly when i turned on my computer again and chose my bootcamp partition it went to the black screen with the blinking cursor..

for a simple carrying case i would definitly recommend the Tom Bihn brain cell, the build quality is outstanding and i know they make one that fits the 17".

Premiere will use the other cores, but for me i'd rather 4/6 cores with a higher clock speed and the matrox compressHD card, than a more expensive 8/12 core machine, with lower clock speed and no budget left for the compress card.
I understand. I'm honestly thinking of purchasing an iMac (after the refresh). I'll add the maximum amount of Ram (or atleast 16GB) and get the best processor from the Apple Website. I think that will be the best option for me. If I become unhappy, I'll sell my iMac or return it within the 30 Day Mark.

Probably not. If your iPhoto library is anything like my iPhoto library -- it would eat up 1/2 of a 256 gig SSD. Same with my iTunes library. And my movies folder.
So your iPhoto library will have to be on the platter drive.
Same people who talk about their "tons of Aperture work with RAW files" -- well those files wont be fitting on a 256 gig SSD.

1. Open Applications → Utilities → Activity Monitor and terminate processes linked to MACDefender.
2. Delete MACDefender from the Applications folder.
3. Check System Preferences → Accounts → Login Items for MAC Defender entry.
4. Run a Spotlight search for "MACDefender" to check for any associated files and remove them if exist. Use this method to fully delete the trojan. (http://forums.macrumors.com/showpost.php?p=11171082&postcount=16)

Excellent news! I think we can infer from this that Apple has nothing more then a skeleton crew working on 4.x at this point. I am sure all resources are hard at work on 5.x .
Cant blame them, they probably got more important things to focus on than patching jailbreaks.
Hope they become more lenient on JB in general.

Ok thanks for the info guys. I guess the main thing to take away from your info is that hyperthreading would do relatively little for me. This leaves the slightly faster clockspeed (and therefore slightly higher turboboost max) as the deciding factor for the i7.
I think I'm gonna go with the 3.1 i5, which should be a huge improvement for me seeing as i'm coming from a 2008 macbook with 2GHz C2D en 2GB of ram :P

Hey guys I'm new to this jailbreaking thing and had question and I hope one of you iPhone wizards can help me out. I was wondering if I am running on 3.1.3 firmware right now(my iPhone is currently jailbroken) if I were to update my firmware would I lose the jailbreak?? Would it unjailbreak my phone with a firmware update? I really don't want to try and re jailbreak it, will I have to or would the iPhone still remain jailbroken even if I update?? Help would be much appreciated guys!! Thank you in advance
I don't understand why people wait so long to update... like if you have a 3gs there was no reason not to upgrade to 4.0 when it was a website based jailbreak.. your missing out on so many features fixes and upgrades.. I just dont get it

Try a Thinkpad T-series. Best-built for the money, with user-replaceable parts (try finding that on most machines today), and a keyboard that puts all others to shame.

Looking back, every Apple laptop I've owned since my PB1400, barring one of the two 12" AlBooks that just got dropped one too many times still works. The same can be said of my T20, T30, and the cheap Lenovo N200 I bought when I thought I wouldn't be able to afford the MacBook I'm using now.
In the same time, I've killed Dells, Sonys, various MSI and Mitac machines badged as unheardof manufacturers, so YMMV, but I'll stick to Apple and Lenovo. Sonys tend to feel just as flimsy as all the others IMHO, but maybe I've only had the misfortune to meet their lower end machines.
