Yup, I tried fixing the permissions, says the group was 0 instead of 80. After that and I reboot same thing :mad:

9. What does the settlement provide?
NVIDIA has agreed to provide a replacement of the NVIDIA GPU or MCP to Class Members who purchased certain versions of some Dell, Inc. or Apple Inc. notebook computers that contain an NVIDIA chip and who send in a valid Claim Form and appropriate supporting documentation.
NVIDIA has also agreed to provide a fund in the amount of $2,000,000 to provide reimbursements if you purchased a version of one of the notebook computer models identified in the Full Notice that contains an NVIDIA GPU or MCP during the dates listed in the Full Notice experienced certain identified symptoms, and have appropriate documentation proving that you paid to have the notebook computer repaired. The amount of reimbursement may depend on the number of reimbursement claims received.

I've been a Mac user for a year, and yet a quick flip through the "dummies" Panther books at the local bookstore taught me quite a few things I didn't yet know.
So, I'd like a book written about Tiger as I plan to purchase the update.
Is there a "best of the best" of these types of books? For example, are the books written by David Pogue considered to be the best typically and his upcoming Tiger book would be a good choice?
Just give me some options.

I know we'll know for sure real soon, but I was just wondering if there's any expectation one way or the other regarding how likely the ipad2 will be jailbreak-able, either with the current apps or with current known but unused exploits.
way , way wayyyyyyyyyyy too early to tell, iPad2 is a whole new device, new processor, new firmware (with new drivers to support the new devices), new interfaces, new internal devices, most of drivers are going to be updated, HDMI out support, so all those changes mean that pretty much anything we curretnly have is pretty much useless, until someone can get their hands on it and on the 4.3 GM release, there isn't much work that can be done.

This does look like iOS4 is turning into Apple's Vista. I've begun noticing odd quirks with my iPhone 4. Frequently, the screen refuses to shift into landscape or portrait mode when I turn it. The only thing that seems to fix the problem is a re-boot of the phone. Reception is still wonky. In the exact same location it will shift from 5 bars of 3G to 1 bar of EDGE, then 1 bar of 3G and then to 3 bars of EDGE. I've had several bizarre syncing problems when either iTunes or iPhoto reported simply, "An error has occurred."
When it works, it's great. But it certainly has been more finicky than my old 3G, which was rock-solid.
I have noticed this as well, a reboot usually helps. It is very annoying though.
Other things I have noticed:
1) The screen tends to take time to come one (once in a while) when the power button is pressed (when in sleep mode).
2) The color on the Calendar's is incorrectly sync'ed from my MacBook Pro.
As of right that is all I have noticed, it is a simple fix through the software. Hopefully it comes along quick.

how did you verify that the adapter you referenced on amazon will take a 24 pin zif cable? I'm reading elsewhere that adapters for this interface simply don't exist which doesn't make sense :(

At this point it is the best guess I can make. Given that it is SATA and the ZIF-24 is SATA. Though I am starting to think it will not work. I'll know when it arrives. I could always use a ZIF-40 adapter at some point. If that is what it turns out to be.

i get the same thing to. it usually happens when i play the app words with friends. If the app runs ads and you go to the home screen sometimes you get the ad below the status bar, sometimes you don't. if you close the app then the ad will go away. (double tap home button and hold down the app till the minus sign comes up to close it)

ok so not sure if this is the same problem as you but i got my mac to boot up then i went into activity monitor and it said every thing was idle. then i went into disc utility and did a permission check and a verify disc and it said this

Screw Combustion, I want Discreet to get the bugs out of Cleaner 6. Since they picked up Cleaner from Terran Interactive years ago they haven't done squat. They rarely even put out the "new version coming soon" lie on their BB anymore because every time they do they get slammed.

As for pricing considerations, refurb. 3rd gens (4gb) start at $99 in the apple store, ipod2sell suggests $80. That is, of course, without the engraving to consider. I would, however, reemphasize that aside from the engraving, the iPod is in pristine condition.

Seems that Safari or network is about 10% what it used to be in speed. I recently add the MacUpdate Spring Promo package, and seems some of the programs are POC. Not sure if this is part of the problem because the slowdown happened beore that install I think.
